He was born August 24, 1938, in Joliet, the son of Lenard W. and Leona Alsup; they preceded him in death. He married Karen Curby on February 25, 1961, in Springfield.

He resided near Kenney, IL before joining the Air Force. Leonard served his country in both the Air Force and Army for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Alsup; daughter, Sharon (Richard) Barnes of Springfield; grandsons, Devon Dollarhide and Colin Barnes; three brothers, Larry (Carol) Alsup of Beason, Ronnie Alsup and Roger (Suzie) Alsup, both of Lincoln; two aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. till time of memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Parkway Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 2700 Lindbergh Blvd, Springfield, IL, with Pastor Daniel Krumrei and Pastor Mark Gifford officiating.
