More detail on this person: Helicopter crash while spraying for fire ants.Mike (Travis) was my uncle. I thought I would write and give you a little more information on him. I didnt look through your site very much but thought that you guys would want to know that he was killed while flying. In Aug of 1975 he was spraying for fire ants for the State of MS around McComb MS when his bird went down - this was the first day back in the air after a major overhaul. I was 10 at the time so I dont know much about what happened, just what I have heard from various people over the years. Some thoughts were that the helicopter had a malfunction and came down and that was what we thought for years. A few years ago a postal worker told me that he had been there that day and that Mike was not feeling very well but went back up after lunch. Soon after that it, appeared that Mike was trying to come back in and hit the only tree in the area appearently having had a heart attack while in the air. The helicopter went up in flames and there was no saving Mike.

I wish all the time that I had had more time to spend with him and am constanly being told tales of things that my uncle did during his stay on this planet - I have been introduced to all sorts of people that knew him all those years ago and each time I get to hear of some exploit or another.
