More detail on this person: SANFORD - Retired Army Maj. Frank Ray Armstrong, 73, of Sanford, died Monday, May 22, 2006, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born in Princeton, Ky. He was an extensively decorated Korean War and Vietnam War veteran and retired from the Army as an aviation maintenance test pilot. He was also a retired Major with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department.

Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his parents, John and Fay Battoe Armstrong; a brother

Johnnie Armstrong; and a son, Frankie Armstrong Tussing.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hickman Armstrong; a daughter, Lori Armstrong Thomas; three sons, Samuel, David and Miles Armstrong; a sister, Connie Beckner; a brother, Donald Armstrong; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake tonight, May 24, 2006, from 7 to 8:30.

Burial will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
