More detail on this person: John Michael Armstrong, 59, of Overland Park, Kan., loving husband and father, passed away suddenly early Wednesday morning, September 27, 2006. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel, USAF, who was commuting from his home in Overland Park to Springfield, Mo., to teach Junior ROTC classes. John grew up in Indiana, where he earned his Eagle Scout rank and graduated from Missouri Valley College, which he attended on a football scholarship, and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. John is survived by his wife Connie and daughters Kristen and Kelly, as well as brother Allen (Bo), sisters Kathy Brooks, Jan Allen, Julie Billingsley, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. John loved his family, his country, many sports (especially I.U. basketball!), daily jogs, summers at the ocean, and autumns in Vermont. Prayers and a celebration of John's life will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ascension Catholic Church in Overland Park.
