DALEVILLE, ALABAMA -

Julius L. (Lou) Berry, age 73, died Thursday, January 27, 2005 at his home in Dalevlle, Alabama.

Mr. Berry was born July 15, 1931, a son of L.C. and Essie Berry. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer, W4, from the US Army where he served as a helicopter pilot, and was a decorated veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was active in community life and kept many friends in veterans affairs both in Charleston, SC and in the Dothan area of Alabama. Mr. Berry belonged to the VFW, DAV, VHPA and the American Legion.

Surviving are his daughter, Julie Berry Church of Atlanta; his son, Joseph Berry of Dothan, AL; sister, Charlotte Berry Cairns of Charleston; sister Ruby Berry Dunbar of Charleston; brother, T.P. Berry of Reevesville, SC; and three grandchildren, Erin, Keri, and Kelly.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday February 1, 2005 at St. Lukes Chapel, corner of Ashley and Bee Streets in downtown Charleston. The service is set for 2:30pm but family and friends may call at the Chapel earlier, beginning at 1:30pm.

No flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Shiloh Historical Association, PO Box 295, Bowman, SC 29018, or to the charity of one's choice.
