More detail on this person: WEST COLUMBIA - A memorial service for William Burton "Burt" Barber Jr., 66, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with interment of ashes with military honors following in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Barber went to be with the Lord June 24, 2010. Born July 17, 1943, in Winston-Salem, N.C., he was a son of the late W.B. and Olive Dennis Barber. He was a U.S. Army veteran, former pilot with Piedmont Airlines, a member of West Columbia Seventh Day Adventist and was affiliated with Mid-Town Seventh Day Adventist.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; sisters, Barbara Bullock of West Columbia, Margaret Stevens of Reston, Va. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Barber of Arlington, Va.
