More detail on this person: Sam Whitfield Boaze III, 68, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in his home in Beaumont, TX. Sam was born July 1, 1945 to Sam W. Boaze Jr and Rebecca W. Boaze. He graduated from Beaumont High School and from Lamar University. Sam served in the US Army with distinction as a helicopter pilot where he received the Purple Heart Award and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He had many Air Medals and unit citations as well. Sam is survived by his wife, Marcia Armstrong Boaze; his parents, Sam and Becky Boaze and his sister, Carol B. Snowden and her husband, Eddie. A memorial service honoring Sam's life will be held Saturday, June 28 at 2:00 PM at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Chapel on 11th St. in Beaumont.
