More detail on this person: RUSTON, LA - Retired Marine Corps Major, Harvey E. Britt went home to be with the Lord Sunday October 21, 2012. He is survived by his wife Donna Stevens Britt of Ruston. Harvey was born on October 1st, 1930 to Hubert and Grace Lee Britt and was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Winford, Aquilla and Clay; and three sisters Virginia, Carol and Margueriet and granddaughter Whitney Leigh and great granddaughter Petra Fry. Harvey served his country in the United States Navy and Marine Corps for 26 years as a Helicopter Pilot and instructor, and as a Medi-Vac pilot in Korea and Viet Nam. As a pilot Harvey received numerous awards for meritorious service; among which was the Distinguished Flying Cross w/4 gold stars. He was also privileged to serve as a part of the pilot base for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Harvey never was one to go on about his exploits. He would only reply, "I was just doing my job."

"Daddy" as he was affectionately known is survived by his sister Francis Small of Colorado, children: Lars Britt, Gary Britt and wife Chris, Cheryl McEntrye, Miles Britt and wife Denise, Luke Britt, Caroline Storey and husband Steven, Suzanne Hanna and husband Eric, Daphne Sherlock (USMC, Ret.) and husband Brad. Grandchildren Farris, Nathan, David, Drew, Jon-Eric, Megan, Kaitlin, Jessica, Rachel, Kaylee, Collin, Dillon, Lillian, Tamara, Lauren and Jonathan. Great-grandchildren: Bryce, Tyler, Jason and Lily and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harvey served Ruston and the surrounding community for 40 years as a local tax consultant. He took great pride in his efforts and considered his most important client the one sitting in front of him.

In lieu of flowers donations or memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family will have a private service at a later date with burial in the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, La.
