More detail on this person: Colonel James Patrick Bruce, USMC Retired, of New Bern, N.C. in River Bend Community, died Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at his residence. A memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Cotten Chapel with Dr. Lee R. Bendell, Col. USMC Ret. of Diamond Bar, Calif. Burial will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Epperly) Bruce; one daughter, Kerry Lynn Bruce of Pa.; one son, Michael Thomas Bruce of New Bern; one grandson, Robert James (B.J.) Nathan of Wauconda, Ill.; two nephews, Thomas Kimball and James Robert Kimball, both of San Francisco, Calif.; and one niece, Linda Marie Kimball of Sacramento, Calif.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Lee and Gloria Bendell of Diamond Bar, Calif.; nephew-in-law, Richard Ellis. A brother, Robert Bruce and a sister, Betty B. Kimball, preceded Col. Bruce in death. The family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday night. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Craven Co. Home Health Hospice Agency, 2818 Neuse Blvd., P.O. Drawer 12610, New Bern, N.C. 28561 or the Salvation Army, 1402 Rhem Ave., New Bern, N.C. 28560 or to a favorite charity. Arrangements by Cotten Funeral Home.
