More detail on this person: Gary W. Burdick passed away on March 19, 2016 at the age of 67. He was born in Olympia on May 21, 1948 to Wilbur and Ruth Burdick. He graduated from North Thurston High School in 1966, and joined the army in 1968, where he became a helicopter pilot, which he flew in the Vietnam War. After leaving the army Gary became a Washington State Trooper. He then joined the National Guard in Alaska so he could fly again. He served there until his retirement in 2004. He's survived by his daughter, Andrea; son, Ryan; two brothers, Marty (Debbie), and Brad (Kathy), both of Olympia; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He lived in Eagle River, Alaska at the time of his passing. A military honors memorial service will be held in Olympia on June 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 2902 Martin Way, Olympia. There will be a salad potluck reception following the service for friends and family. He may be gone, but will never be forgotten. He will live in our hearts forever.
