08 NOV 68 WOC Larry L. Breaden [Student Pilot] and WOC Thomas C. Bridges [Student Pilot] and IP injured at Fort Rucker, Alabama in USAAVNS.

The aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Hunt Stagefield at Ft. Rucker after experiencing an engine failure. IP was in full control of emergency landing until they hit power lines during the flare which flipped the A/C upside down. It then burst into flames.

FORT RUCKER Copter Crashes; 1 Dies; 2 Hurt

FT. RUCKER, Ala. (AP) - One man was killed and two others injured in the crash of an Army helicopter shortly after takeoff at this huge Army base.

Army officials at Ft. Rucker identified the dead man Saturday was WO candidate Larry L. Breaden, 20, of Albuquerque, N.M.

They said the HU'1 copter had just take off Friday from Hunt Stage Field at the base when it hurtled to the ground.

The injured men, one identified as CWO-2 Jeffrey D. Halliday, 21, of Daleville, Ala., the other still unidentified, were flown to Columbus, Ga., Medical Center.
