More detail on this person: Charles "Chuck" William Cupp (CPT, U.S. Army, retired), age 77, died from ALS on February 3, 2016, in Selma, TX. Chuck is survived by his children, Doris Westfall, of Lebanon, OR; Kimberly Bayes-Bautista, of Harker Heights, TX; Jay Cupp of San Antonio, TX; and Mark Cupp of San Antonio, TX. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, his brother Roger Cupp of Peachtree City, GA, and sister Jane Cupp of Austell, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife Martha Cupp; parents Ursel and Anna Mae Cupp; sisters Patricia Bowling, Donna Crider, and Rebecca Williams; brother Larry Cupp; and great granddaughter, Lily Cupp. Chuck was born on January 1, 1939 in Dayton, OH to Ursel and Anna Mae Cupp. He graduated from Patterson Cooperative in Dayton, OH in 1957. He joined the Army Reserves in 1956 and later went active duty, going on to retire in 1977. He was a decorated Korean and Vietnam Veteran. He earned two bachelors degrees in business, and logistics and transportation from Wright State University. He earned multiple certifications in various military training programs. He served his country with honor as a helicopter pilot, company commander, instructor, mechanic, mentor and patriot. After his retirement, he served as a civil servant at Kelly AFB, San Antonio,TX. Chuck was a member of the Universal City Methodist Church, Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, West Point Parent Association, Fiesta Campers, Newmar Kountry Klub, Trailblazers Camping Club, and National Campers and Hikers Association. Chuck was a man of faith, a loving father, grandparent, and devoted husband. He was a social, active man who was passionate about camping, traveling, wounded veterans, and spending time with family and friends. He was especially delighted in 2015 to swear in his grandson, 2LT Colton Cupp, as an US Army officer at the United States Military Academy-West Point. Memorial service and reception will be Thursday, 11 Feb 2016 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Universal City United Methodist Church, 90 Winn Ave, Universal City, TX. Burial service will be on 12 Feb 16, 9:30 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX. Flowers or donations to the ALS Association @ http://www.alsa.org/ or Wounded Warrior Project @ https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ will be received with gratitude.
