More detail on this person: Michael Anthony Carosella was born on July 21, 1947 in Spokane and left this life on August 4, 2016 when his kayak overturned on Alsea Bay on the Oregon Coast and is lost at sea. Mike attended Lewis and Clark high school, University of Idaho, and graduated from Kansas State University. During his 26 years in the military, Mike flew Huey helicopters in Vietnam and medivac for the National Guard when he returned. Mike retired from both the military and the US Postal service. Mike was an avid runner and outdoorsman. He was known for his generosity, helping hands, smile, and kind words. Mike loved to garden, camp, sail, fish, kayak, and was a talented woodworker. He loved the ocean and spent hours paddling his handmade sea faring kayak. Mike was a man of steadfast faith and a longtime member of Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Della Carosella, Winnie Carosella, and his father-in-law, William Marshall. Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marilyn Marshall Carosella, daughters Kristi Anderson and her husband Chad, Teresa Carosella, mother-in-law Susan Marshall; grandchildren Karly, Abbey, Wyatt, Asher, and Adeline; brother Paul Carosella and wife Betsy, sister Patricia Rolland and husband Bruce; many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Mike's wife and children take comfort knowing that Mike's last moments were spent doing what he loved the most.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 24th at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church, 4102 S. Crestline in Spokane. The family requests casual attire in Mike's honor. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The MOOSE Project (The Magic Of Oral and Signing Education) at 801 E. 2nd Ave., Spokane WA, 99201.

"And if from the course You intend I depart, speak to the sails of my wandering heart."
