Carlile of Dauphin Street, Enterprise, passed away Saturday morning, March 4, 2006, at the family residence following an extended illness. He was 62. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Mike Basham officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Meadowlawn Cemetery with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing until service time. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the S.O.S. Animal Shelter, 25944 Highway 134-84 E., Enterprise, Ala., 36330. Mr. Carlile was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Utah to Douglas Carlile and the late Minnie L. Carlile. He was active with the Boy Scouts Troop #153 and 99. He was the director of the Genealogy Library and also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a WO4. During his Army career, he had served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, Korea and Germany. He was serving as a helicopter instructor pilot until his illness. His mother as well as a sister, Jeanette Carlile, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Brigitte Carlile, Enterprise; one son, Chris R. Carlile, Dothan; father, Douglas Carlile, Utah; one sister, Florence Beal, Utah; two brothers, Douglas (Ray) Carlile and Milton (Lee) Carlile, both of Utah; several nieces and nephews.
