More detail on this person: U.S. 6 Crash Claims One The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office Monday continued to investigate a head-on collision Sunday of a car and pickup truck on U.S. Highway 6 just north of Giles Road that left one man injured and two dead. Sheriff's Capt. J.W. Maze said Miles R. Cunningham, 45, of 3214 Duane Ave., in the Capehart housing area adjacent to Offutt Air Force Base, was killed. Air Force Maj. Ronald E. Hagen, 44, of 3124 Duane Ave., was in fair condition at Midlands Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman. She said she did not know the extent of his injuries. John C. Barnard, 32, of Auburn, Neb., was in fair condition at St. Joseph Hospital with internal injuries, a hospital spokesman said. Cunningham was a passenger in the pickup driven by Hagen, said Maze. He said they had been fishing and towing a boat. Barnard was driving the other vehicle, according to Maze. He said it appeared the car crossed the center line and collided with the pickup. An investigator at the scene Sunday night said fog may have contributed to the accident. Barnard was taken to the St. Joseph Hospital by the Life Flight helicopter. Millard rescue personnel transported Hagen to the Midlands Hospital.
