More detail on this person: Jan Ryder Carney CARNEY Jan Ryder, born 2-15-45 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., died 4-14-93. He graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Me. and attended Louisiana State University. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served in both the First and Second Armored Cavalry from 1965-1971. Among the many recognitions he received were the Bronze Star and Distinguished Flying Cross. He completed his bachelors degree at the University of Oklahoma and also did graduate work at OU and the University of Central Oklahoma. From 1974-1989 he was a personnel specialist, serving as Director of Classification of the Office of Personnel Management and Director of Human Resources at the Oklahoma Medical Center. In 1990 he pursued his first love, teaching social studies at Rogers Middle School. In 1973 he married Jane Carney. He is survived by his wife, son, Daniel and daughter, Kate, of the home. He is also survived by his parents, James and Jeanne Carney of Lakewood, Colorado; a sister, Faith of Lakewood; and brother s, Neal of Boston, Ma. and Rob of Crested Butte, Co. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, a former senior warden of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, and a member of several civic and professional associations. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturd ay, April 17, 1993, St. John's Episcopal Church, 235 W. Duffy, Norman, Ok. Interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
