More detail on this person: HONESDALE - Theron B. Calkin of Honesdale died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at home. Son of Ellery F. and Anna Shaffer Calkin, he was born April 7, 1931 in Princeton, NJ. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1949 and then went to college. He was a career military man and served as an Army Medical Corp Officer in the Korean War and as a Naval aviator flying helicopter gunships in Vietnam. He earned a Bronze Star with Valor, 26 Air Medals and numerous other awards. He retired with the rank of commander in 1980 and settled in Honesdale. He was a member of the Honesdale Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Marjorie; three children, Betsy Davis of Kingsville, TX, Peter Calkin of Honesdale and Suzanne Frisch of Honesdale; six grandchildren, Trey, Tyler and Tara Davis, TJ Frisch and Audrey and Mark Calkin; a sister, Lois Mae Calkin of San Diego, CA; a brother, Ellery F. Calkin of Clifton, VA; nieces and nephews. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Saint John, 1007 Oak Street, Pittston, PA 18640.
