More detail on this person: Richard Charles Diesing, age 72, passed away on March 2, 2014 after a valiant fight with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on February 26, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Arthur F. and Pauline (Meeks) Diesing.

Major Diesing honorably served our country in the U.S. Army where he retired after 13 years of service. Richard was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, serving as an Army Aviation helicopter pilot. While in Viet Nam, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, the Air Medal with 5-11 Oakleaf Clusters, the Bronze Star, The Republic of Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, The Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal, and numerous other medals and awards.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Anita Gay (McDonald) Diesing; niece, Jennifer Fraser and husband, Bill; great-nephews, Matthew and Jarred from Lee, New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Dovie Werlla and husband, Ross from Rosenberg; uncle, Robert Diesing and wife, Marilyn from Wappingers Falls, N.Y., along with other family and friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Arlene V. Diesing.

The family invites you to join them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 for viewing and visitation in the State Room of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. At 12:00 noon, interment, with military honors, will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

Honorary pallbearers will include Ross Werlla, Sam Danna, Billy Tucker, Cullen Vetter, and Norm Grimmett.

For those wishing, memorials may be made in Richard's name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter, P.O. Box 4585, Houston, Texas 77210.
