More detail on this person: DIAL, RAY Ray H. Dial Major (US Army, Retired) Ray H. Dial passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his residence in Enterprise. He was 71. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the St. Luke United Methodist Church with Reverend Dric Williford officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul United Methodist Cemetery in Hartford. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 4 PM until 6:30 PM at the Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory in Enterprise. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Luke United Methodist Church, 201 Heath Street, Enterprise, AL 36330. Major Dial was born on September 3, 1942, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Aaron Burris and Rozena Hansen Dial. Upon graduation from Payson High School, he attended Brigham Young University but then enlisted in the United States Army. Maj. Dial became a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne and received his Master Jump Wings. He served two tours in Vietnam. His twenty-five years of service to our country included overseas deployments and tours within the continental United States. During this military tenure, he earned his college degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Maj. Dial retired from the military in 1980, and was employed by the civilian flight contractor as an Instrument Flight Instructor at Cairnes Army Air Field, flying the UH-1 and TH-67 helicopters. During his civilian career, he began Dial Logging and Tree Service, and continued his business until his recent illness. Maj. Dial was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He served on the Board of Trustees, Church Council and participated in numerous other activities in the church. In addition to his parents, Maj. Dial was preceded in death by his first wife, Patty Dial; his sisters, Ethel Baird and Carol Taylor; and his brother, Ken Dial. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Richards Dial; his children, Kimberly Abbott (Josh), Ray H. Dial II (Lisa), Kristen Green (Lowell), Kathleen O'Neal (Bob), Ben Blakeney (Alissa), and Dallas Blakeney (Jennifer). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caylon Young, Kyle Young, Victoria Young, Patty Green, Mary Beth Green, Bond O'Neal, Robert O'Neal, Kathleen O'Neal, Owen Blakeney, Landon Blake-ney, and Bryn Blakeney; his brothers, Don and Elmo Dial; his sisters, Connie Bastian, Doris Dye, and Joy Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
