More detail on this person: ALLEN L. FRUCCI Allen Leroy Frucci, 68, died Nov. 27, 2001, at Oregon Inlet. Mr. Frucci, born in Paris Island, S.C., was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps. As a jet pilot, Mr. Frucci flew 320 combat missions in Vietnam and was the most decorated Marine Corps pilot in the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal 18th Award, the Navy Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Service Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He was a 1955 graduate of the University of North Carolina and was a member of the Pilmoor United Methodist Church in Currituck and attended St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church in Nags Head. Mr. Frucci was the son of the late Lawrence and Allene Davis Frucci and the husband of Susan Edmondson Frucci of the residence. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Maria Frucci-Saunders of Colington Harbour, N.C.; two sons, Steven Frucci of Virginia Beach and Gregory Frucci of Pleasanton, Calif.; a brother, Richard Frucci of Charlotte, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Arabella Moore Frucci-Saunders and Kate Brissonnette. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles E.B. Gill officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, P.O. Box 1947, Quantico, VA 22134. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge.
