More detail on this person: Donald Lee Frye passed away at his home in Ellensburg on September 2. He was born December 8, 1935 in Magnolia, Illinois to Leonard and Nancy (Kelley) Frye. Don entered the Air Force out of high school. Following his 4-year enlistment he traveled the country working for Martin Company. During that time he met Charlotte Burke and they were married on August 1, 1964 at her parent's home in Lauderdale. Don drove a logging truck for a short time and then entered the army. He served with distinction for 20 years as an Army Aviator-including two tours in Viet Nam-flying both rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft. Don retired from the Army in 1982. After his retirement, he and Charlotte moved to their ranch in Ellensburg, which Don affectionately referred to as "El Rancho Cost-a-Plenty." He enjoyed working on his place and raising cattle. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Edith Calvert. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his sister Ruby (Bill) Bare and brother Paul (Edith) Frye of Henry, Illinois and many special nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at the IOOF Cemetery on Thursday, September 6th at 11 am. Arrangements are under the care of Steward and Williams Tribute Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of one's choice.
