More detail on this person: LTC John Ferguson Lt. Col. (Ret) John Ferguson, 77, of Lanett died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at the Medical Center in Columbus, Ga. Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Mike Sellers officiating. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Mausoleum. Lt. Col. Ferguson is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Ferguson; four daughters, Jane Kolb of Santa Cruz, Calif., Robin Ferguson of Aspen, Colo., Sandra Ferguson of Carbondale, Colo., and Laura Ferguson of Atlanta; one son, David Ferguson of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; three stepchildren, Pamela Davani of LaGrange, M. Douglas Patillo II of Lanett and M. Dana Patillo of Birmingham, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Kate Kolb of Los Angeles, Calif., Nicholas Davani of LaGrange and Chase Davani of LaGrange. Born in Paterson, N.J., Oct. 25, 1926, Lt. Col. Ferguson was the son of the late Katherine Louise and Andrew Ferguson. He was a graduate of Columbus College in Columbus with a bachelor of arts degree and was a member of a barber shop quartet. Lt. Col. Ferguson was a loving, kind and caring husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and a gracious friend to many people. He had served in the United States Army for 25 years before he retired. Lt. Col. Ferguson was a helicopter pilot volunteer at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, Ga., for five years. He later worked at Jenco Realty in Hamilton, Ga,. where he was a real estate broker, real estate preparer and office manager. For many years, he also worked at H&R Block Income Tax Service. Lt. Col. Ferguson was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10558 in Cataula. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association in his memory. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
