More detail on this person: Jess Gossage Jr, 75 of Kennewick, Washington In Memory Of... 12-2-06 Tri-City Herald (Kennewick, WA) - Saturday, December 2, 2006 Burns Mortuary }In Loving memory of our father and grandfather, Jess Gossage Jr. was born October 28th, 1931, at Stanfield, Oregong to parents, Jess and Pearl E. (Meade) Gossage Sr.. He died Wednesday, November 29th, 2006, at Kennewick General Hospital in Kennewick, Washington at the age of 75. After graduating from high schoolg Jess joined the U.S. Army and served 23 years as a helicopter pilot serving first in Korea as a Medavac pilot and later completeing two full tours in the Vietnam conflict before retiring in 1973. He then worked at the Umatilla Army Depot before his final retirement. Jess was an avid outdoorsman who loved the mountains, hunting with his sons and brother Bill, fishing, camping, traveling, and competitive trap shooting. Jess spent every moment he could, until his last days, hunting in the mountains he loved. Jess will be remembered by all those who met him for his never ending kindness and compassion. Even as he struggled with health problems he remained cheerful, showing kindness and a loving spirit to all those around him. Jess showed us all how to treat and respect the people you meet in any situation. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Pillai, the wonderful staff of Kennewick General Hospital, the Medic crews of the Kennewick Fire Department, his new family at Hawthorne Court and all those who helped with his care. He is survived by sons, Curtis Gossage and his wife, Debbie of Boise, ID, Phillip Gossage and his wife, Dawne of Tacoma, WA, and John Gossage of Snohomish, WA; daughters, Debbie Couch and her husband, Gregg of West Richland, WA, and Stacy Philips of Yakima, WA; Brother, Bill Gossage and his wife, Sybil of Hermiston, OR; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Gossage in 1974; second wife, Laurie Gossage in 2004; parents, Jess and Pearl Gossage Sr.; Brother, Gary Gossage; sister, Mary Craft. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Mueller's Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. First Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336. Disposition was by cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of your choice. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, Oregon, is in care of arrangements.
