More detail on this person: John Joseph Gilchrist John Joseph Gilchrist, age 60 of Westampton and formerly of Pennsauken, died on December 24, 2006. Born in Seattle, Washington, John had served on the Pennsauken Police Department as a Detective Sergeant. After leaving the force, he became a truck driver for New Century Transportation of Westampton, NJ and he and his wife would travel all across the country. He served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received several Purple Hearts for injuries he received while on duty. He enjoyed golfing, liked bowling, hunting and going to the casinos. He is the beloved husband of Joanne (nee Tomcho) Gilchrist. Dear father of Heather N. Cornforth of Pennsauken, NJ and loving grandfather of Danielle Palombi, Christian Cornforth and Brooke Cornforth. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Gaines. His service in celebration of his life will be 1 PM, Friday at the STEPHENSON-BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 33 West Maple Ave., Merchantville, NJ, where friends may call beginning at 12 Noon for his viewing and family visitation. No evening viewing. Interment Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ
