More detail on this person: Gary was a very special individual. A professional aviator, he flew Jet Rangers for Georgia Pacific. I had the privilege of being his CO in the148th Medical Company (Air Ambulance), GAARNG. He was a valued member of our organization, whose experience and professionalism was continually relied upon. He was a soldier's soldier and got much satisfaction being my Awards and Decorations Officer - so much so that I affectionately referred to him as "Mr. Mutley". I visited with him at his residence on several occasions during the final stages of his illness. He faced his final challenge with great courage and dignity. The men and women of the 148th MedCo were able to honor him by flying all available UH-1V's and personnel to an airfield near his residence, where his loving wife brought him to visit with his comrades. Like I said, he was special.

I too, was a very close friend of Gary's. We grew up together in NY, his dad and I, along with Gary worked for Fairchild-Republic company in Farmingdale, NY , Hagerstown, MD and Edwards AFB, California, on the A-10 aircraft. I was close to his wife Suzie, and his sons, as we spent lots of time together when back in MD. Then, down in lovely Georgia, during his employment at GP. I was flying an A-star at Providence Hospital, in Columbia, SC and would run into Gary while one of us was out on a flight. His brother Bobby took over at GP and Suzie returned to Idaho? after Gary left us. His dad passed shortly after as well. He truly was one of a kind and very special to all he came in contact with. Our prayers are and always will be with him.
