More detail on this person: Beloved husband and father, Robert Allan Herbold, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army, Retired, 83, passed away at home on July 28, 2013. He was born November 24, 1929 in Cincinnati, OH, to Ralph and Dorothy Sunnenburg Herbold.

Robert served in the United States Army for 22 years. Enlisting as a private, he was first a paratrooper, then a ranger and later did two tours in Vietnam as a

helicopter pilot. Following his distinguished service, he worked over 10 years as a DOD teacher and in civil service in Heidelberg, Germany, Kennedy Space Center and at Patrick Air Force base. Robert was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the American Legion.

His family includes his wife of 42 years, Gabi; daughters, Michelle (Josh) Malyn, Natasha Herbold and Cindy Herbold; sister, Betty Huber; and his grandchildren, Scotty and Kelly.

While we want nothing more for you than to rest in peace, our hearts are full of sorrow; but watching you struggle and not being able to help, hurt us most. You will be sorely missed.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 31 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 S. Hickory Street, Melbourne. His Funeral Mass is August 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3780 Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of St. Francis, Inc., 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, FL 32780.
