More detail on this person: HOWARD HOSTLER, 74, U.S. Army WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Howard K. Hostler of Winter Haven died of lung cancer Friday (March 25, 2005) at home. He was 74. Born in Evansville, Ind., on Aug. 9, 1930, Mr. Hostler came to Winter Haven from there in 1942. He was a retired colonel in the Army and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He commanded an assault helicopter squadron and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the Army Aviation Association and the Officer Club at MacDill Air Force Base. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was an usher. Mr. Hostler is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. Hostler; son, Kevin Hostler, Winter Haven; daughter, Carrie Spieghts, Temple, Texas; brother, Keith Hostler, Auburndale; sister, Betty Banks, Lakeland; three grandchildren.
