More detail on this person: COL Retired JY Hammack passed away Sunday in his sleep in Quanah, TX. He was once the Ft Rucker Chief of Staff and I also think he was in on the build-up of the 1st Cav when they went to VN. MG McNair used to talk about him when I was there in the early 80's. JY was a throwback who rewarded excellence regardless of the color of your bars. If you did your job you got along with him, if not, you didn't.
