More detail on this person: HARMAN Walter D. Harman HARMAN Walter D. Harman, 78, died on November 17, 2009, at his home in Worthington. Born in Bradshaw, WV, he served as a frogman on the U.S. Navy's Underwater Demolition team and piloted helicopters for the U.S. Army, from which he retired in 1981 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Graduate of Marshall University and the University of Northern Colorado, with a Ph.D. in Education, 1970, and Professor of Military Science at The Ohio State University, 1977-81. Board member of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, 1982. President of the M.S. Harman Co., 1984-2004. He attended Linworth Road Church in Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Sue Harman (nee Caldwell); sons, Douglas (Pam) of Powell, OH, and Daniel (Anne) of Huntington, NY; daughter, Melissa Elder (Dan) of Worthington, OH; sister, Glenna Pruitt of Montgomery, AL; and eight grandchildren, Aimee, Christopher, Stephanie, Isabelle, Charlotte, and Lauren Harman, Ian and Aubrey Elder. Memorial service to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, at Linworth Road Church, 5400 Linworth Road, Columbus, OH 43235. Contributions may be made in his memory to Ohio Cancer Research Associates, 50 W Broad St. #1132, Columbus, OH 43215-3388, www.ohiocancer.org or Linworth Road Church. Arrangements entrusted to RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, Ohio.
