More detail on this person: Mr. Jeffry C. Howard Beloved son and father, Jeffry C. Howard, an Augusta native and resident of Atlanta, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009. He is survived by his mother, Ann Howard Kelly; brother, W. Thomas Howard, (Pat); niece, Erin Kelly Howard; sons, Jeffry Christopher Howard (Shannon), John Courtland Howard, and Jennings Carter Howard (Heather); granddaughters, Jocelyn Cadence and Julianna Charlese Howard; and grandson, Jarred Chase Howard. Mr. Howard is also survived by his fiancee', Sandee LaMotte. Mr. Howard was a distinguished helicopter pilot in Vietnam in the 11th Light Infantry Brigade where he was awarded 18 medals, a Bronze Star, and Distinguished Flying Cross. As a young man, he was involved in the Boy Scouts of America where he was an Eagle Scout, Vigil Member in the Order of the Arrow, and recipient of the God and Country Award. He also served as District Commissioner for the Cherokee Council in Athens, Georgia. Mr. Howard attended Richmond Academy where he was captain of the Rifle Team. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1966, where he was captain of the Rifle Team, Debate Team, and other organizations. Mr. Howard was a principal in Nichols & Howard Land and Investment Co. and broker/owner of Century 21 Howard Investment Company, President of the Athens Area Board of Realtors, and Realtor of the Year in 1976. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Platt's Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Road, in Augusta, Georgia, with viewing immediately following. The family will welcome guests at 1834 Kissingbower Road, Augusta, Georgia, following the service. Burial will be private and will be held Monday, November 23, at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road, in Augusta, Georgia. Platt's Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Ave. Augusta, GA.
