More detail on this person: Lt. Col. Herbert J. Harkey Jr., USMC Ret., passed away on 7-22-14 at 83 years of age. He was a proud veteran with a distinguished 27 year career. He served two tours in Vietnam. He flew a variety of fixed wing aircraft, fighter jets and helicopters. Herb was awarded several medals including a purple heart and bronze star. After retiring, Herb and his family resided in Orange County, California for several years before moving to Riverside County. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and parishioner of St. Frances of Rome in Wildomar. Herb is survived by his wife Ann and their ten children, Jerry & wife Donna, Mike & wife Barbara, Marissa, Jim, Chip & wife Julie, Mary & husband Jeff, Debbie, Steve, Rosanne, Chris & husband Steve; his 20 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren; brother Don, wife Jane & nephew Dean; niece Judy; nephew Greg; sisters-in-law Alice and Jenny and her family. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Master Sgt. Herbert J. Harkey Sr. & wife Margaret, sister Rosemary, brother Jim, sister-in-law Trudie, and nephew Scott. Funeral Mass at St. Frances of Rome 21591 Lemon Street Wildomar, CA 92596 on Monday 08-04-14 at 10am; the mass will be preceded by the rosary at 9am and viewing 9:30am.
