Hartman, Jr. LTC, USAF, Retired SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for William Charles Hartman, Jr. will be held at 1 1 :00 a.m., Sat- " urday, March 20, 2004 in Centuries Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Larry O'Dell, pastor of Christ Methodist Church. Burial with military honors rendered by the Barksdale Air Force Base Honor Guard will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Colonel Hartman was born in Meyersville, TX on June 25, 1924. He passed away on March 17, 2004, after a brief illness. He served his country for thirty years in the United States Air Force, including time in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. As a pilot and dedicated instructor, his aircraft included the B-17, KB-29, CH-53 and KC-135. During his military career, he was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and an Air Medal with a single bronze cluster. He maintained his dedication to flying with membership in the Daedalians, AFA and MOA. He is preceded in death by his parents, William C. Hartman, Sr. and Edith Killough Hartman and a brother, Edward Hartman. Colonel Hartman in survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lois Dougherty Hartman; his son, William C. Hartman III of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Bucky, and wife, Patsy Hartman of San Antonio, TX; a niece and nephew in Texas, and a nephew in Alaska. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow officers: Nelson Bell, Bob Heverty, Hugh Hunton, Raymond Nash, Bob Slane and Jim Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chnst Methodist Church, Shreveport, or to the Air Force Memorial Foundation in Arlington, VA
