More detail on this person: GLENN R. HUNTER, 66 . . . RETIRED COLONEL U.S. MARINES MR. HUNTER, Island Way, Leesburg, died Wednesday. Born in Osteen, he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 following graduation at DeLand High School. He was selected for flight training under the enlisted naval aviation pilot program and became a pilot in 1944. Hunter was the commanding officer of MAG-26, the largest Marine Corps Air Group from 1970-72, and of VMO-3 Vietnam 1967-68 and had additional assignments as flight instructor. He was a life member of McAviation Association and Silver Eagles. He was a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge 37 of DeLand. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with two stars, meritorious service medal, Bronze Star with Combat V, the Purple Heart Medal and numerous other medal awards. Survivors: wife, Mar y G. ''Gerry''' daughter, Glenda Gardener, Tampa; son, Glenn R. Jr., Summerfield ; sister, Virginia Loadholtz, DeLand; brother, Earl R., New Smyrna Beach; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg.
