LEWIS, Wash. - a 20-year-old San Leandro man was identified by Army officials today as one of the soldiers killed in a helicopter crash on Snoqualmie Pass east of here Friday night. Spec. 5 John M. Rodock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rodock of 15073 Beatty St., San Leandro, was killed when the helicopter in which he was crew chief crashed and burned about 40 miles east of Seattle in a secluded wooded area. Rodock, a member of the First Squadron of the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment, was flying in a civilian rescue mission when the crash occurred. The Army has been using its helicopters for several months to rescue injured persons in remote areas near Fort Lewis. The helicopter left the fort at 9:45 p.m. and encountered bad weather. It crashed about 10:30 p.m. killing Rodock and the three other crew members. The Army is investigating the cause of the crash. The helicopter was en route to pick up a youth who had been injured in a traffic accident west of the summit of Snoqualmie Pass. 04 SEP 70 2LT Curt Heady [P] CW2 Gary C. Nistler [P] SP5 John M.
