More detail on this person: Oregon pilots killed DARBY, Mont. (AP) - Two Oregon men were killed Thursday in the crash of a logging helicopter at a logging operation near this extreme western Montana community, officers said. Ravalli County Undersheriff Ron Fisher identified the dead as pilot John Ball, 42, Portland, and co-pilot Thomas Hewitt, 32, La Grande. The crash occurred while the helicopter was carrying a log. The craft flipped over and plunged to the earth upside down, witnesses said. Authorities said the helicopter was owned by Rocky Mountain Helicopter Co. and was under contract for the Stoltz-Conner Lumber Co.
