A Celebration of Life for Lieutenant Colonel Robert D. "Bud" Henderson, 84, of Aledo, Texas will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, with Dr. Roy James officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery.

LTC Henderson was born June 28, 1931, and passed away Sunday September 6, 2015, at his home in Aledo. The son of Albert D. and Irene Wade Henderson, LTC Henderson was a graduate of Texas A&M, a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam combat area and retired from the US Army. LTC Henderson was awarded the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Senior Army Aviator Badge and numerous other military awards. LTC Henderson dedicated 38 years of service to his country and the US Army, 20 years active military followed by 18 years of Federal Civilian Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kate Valentine Henderson; and a sister, Wynelle Henderson Strnadel. Left to cherish his memory are an aunt, two nieces, one nephew, several cousins, friends and caregiver for many years, Cynthia Keith.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund, Texas A&M Scholarship Fund or to your local humane society.
