More detail on this person: Hugh Samuel Jones Sam Jones, age 86, of College Station, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2012 surrounded by his family. Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at College Station Cemetery. Sam was born to Marvin and Virgie Woods Jones in Fisher, Louisiana on November 2, 1925. In 1944 he married the love of his life Marjorie (Mathews) Jones who preceded him in death in 1997. Sam proudly served his country in the US Navy for 30 years including WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1973 as a Lieutenant Commander. After retiring, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Lamar University and became Vice President of Texas Commerce Bank in Beaumont, Texas. He leaves behind two daughters, Edie Jones of College Station and Elaine Woodard of Hampton, Virginia. He is also survived by a granddaughter Elizabeth Randolph of Kingwood, Texas and a grandson Joseph Woodard of Memphis, Tennessee. Sam was a member of NAVY Helicopter Combat Support Squadron SEVEN (HC-7) arrived 9-18-1967 as a WO and departed 8-12-1970 as a LCDR. 1060 days a SeaDevil. BIG MOTHER Salute.
