More detail on this person: James Bradford Jack Jr. BEIJING, CHINA - James Bradford Jack Jr., father, businessman, Army officer and professor, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the age of 71. Service: He was laid to rest Feb. 18 with full military honors in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. He was born on Coleman in 1938 and was the son of James and Marjie Jack. He entered the Army in November 1957, and accepted a commission as an infantry officer in April 1959. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he fondly remembered leading the Montagnard soldiers of the central highlands. He also served in Korea and Germany and numerous locations in the United States. During his 20-year military career, his awards included the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster for Valor and the Silver Star. Jim completed his bachelor's and master's degrees from TCU in 1974. After retiring from the Army in 1979, with the help of Betty, they built a successful rental real estate company, Jack Properties. As a member of the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, Jim gave a great deal back to the community. During his tenure with Kiwanis, he served as a club president and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club. He supported local education, fighting to keep Bluebonnet Elementary School open and ran for the Fort Worth school board. For the past 10 years he taught in Beijing, China, at an international business school. While teaching, he pursued his Ph.D. in business and was near completion of his dissertation. He volunteered at the English Corner, helping Chinese students improve their English. Jim continued his tradition of community support through the Beijing Rotary Club, where he coordinated health care for many impoverished children of the region. Above all, his sons and daughters remember his strong work ethic. While their friends went on spring breaks and enjoyed summers, he recruited his children to clean apartments and move furniture. They remember those days with light hearts and appreciate those values instilled in each of them. Survivors: Son, Brad; daughter, Christy; daughter, Suzanne; son, Charles; former wife, Betty; and eight grandchildren.
