More detail on this person: LTC James R. Jempson LTC James R. Jempson (U.S. Army, Retired), 59, a resident of Sandia Park for 5 1/2 years, died Friday, February 19, 1999. In 1954, he was the youngest boy in Buffalo, NY to receive the rank of Eagle Scout. During his 23 year military career, he received numerous awards for his many contributions to include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, and Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Nancy J.; children, Heather R. Riikonen and husband, Chris of East Lake, FL, Dawn J. Haynes and husband, Chris of Belews Creek, NC, Jessamyn R. and Joseph R. Jempson of Sandia Park, NM; grandchildren, Arianna Rae and Dalton James Riikonen, and Mackenzie Bridgette Haynes; brothers, Charles T. Jempson and wife, Karen of Micanopy, FL, and Samuel R. Jempson of Buffalo, NY; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Mildred Jempson."Jim was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather; he loved us, and we loved him." Friends will be received by the family Wednesday at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E., from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Deacon Jose Esquibel will recite the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m., Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras, with Father John Carney, Celebrant. Private disposition will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 2100 Ridgecrest Dr. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
