More detail on this person: ROBERT E. JENKINS NEWPORT NEWS - Robert Eugene Jenkins, 65, a Peninsula resident for 31 years, died Monday, Feb. 22. A native of London, Ohio, he retired in 1985 as a civil service warehouseman after six years at Fort Eustis. Mr. Jenkins also retired from the Army in 1971 as a chief warrant officer after 26 years, including service in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6002. Survived by his wife, Hisae Jenkins; two daughters, Shirley A. Blythe of Columbus, Ohio, and Barbara J. Farris of Newport News; two sons, William F. Jenkins of Bena and Charles E. Jenkins of Salem, Ore.; his mother, Reba J. Rigsby of Florida; four sisters, Barbara Wackman and Carol Aills of Washington Court House, Ohio, Janet Bussey of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Shirley Ewell of Florida; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation from 7 to 8 tonight at Umphlett Funeral Home. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by Chaplain A. William Phillips. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to Renal Dialysis Unit of Mary Immaculate Hospital, 800 Denbigh Blvd., Newport News 23602.
