The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Fellowship Church, 505 Castle Road, with the Rev. Mark Cowart officiating. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber St. Mr. Joyner was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Colorado Springs to John H. and Retta Verna Miller Joyner. His mother lives in Colorado Springs. He was married to Karen P. Irick Joyner of Colorado Springs. He also is survived by two daughters, Samantha J. and Jennifer K. Mandel, both of Colorado Springs; three brothers, John of Ketchikan, Steven of Colorado Springs and Joe of Anchorage, Alaska; and four sisters, Ruth Hamilton of Thornebay, Alaska, and Rebecca Danielson, Rachel Ellisworth and Sarah McNary, all of Ketchikan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy. Mr. Joyner served in the Army from 1969 to 1971 and attained the rank of warrant officer. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with a bronze star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, the Aviator Badge and the Air Medal.
