More detail on this person: OBITUARY: James Roden 'Jim' Kreutz Feb. 28, 1940-April 26, 2009 PUYALLUP, Wash. - Former Pendleton resident James Roden "Jim" Kreutz, 69, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, after a courageous battle against cancer. Graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m. Monday, May 4 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. Mr. Kreutz was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Ontario and attended schools in Pendleton, where he was an outstanding athlete. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1958. After six years of Navy service he enlisted in the Army to attend helicopter flight school. He served two tours in Vietnam as a combat helicopter pilot, receiving a multitude of commendations and medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross (OLC) and the Bronze Star (OLC). He retired from military service in 1985 with the rank of major, after which he worked as a consultant in the aviation industry and as a commercial building manager. Mr. Kreutz is survived by sons Carlos, Steve and Danny; daughter Kari; sister Edna Murtishaw; brother Dennis Kreutz; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Rosa Kreutz and Lynn Kreutz; and son Mario Paz. Memorial donations may be made to the Honor Flight Network at www.honorflight.org.
