More detail on this person: Dan Harold Kauth of Weatherford passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford. Dan was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Salina, Kan., to Lola and Charles Kauth. He graduated from high school from Bavaria, Kan., in 1951. Dan married Ella Kohl on April 11, 1956, in Furth, Germany. Dan and Ella had been married 49 years when Ella died in 2005. They had one son, Jeffery, and one grandson, Clayton, whom Dan adored.

Dan served 20 years in the U.S. Army, serving tours of duty in Vietnam and Germany. He was a helicopter pilot and flight instructor. During his years of service, he received numerous awards and honors. He was proud of his service to his country.

After retirement from the military, Dan resided at Possum Kingdom Lake before finally moving to Weatherford. Dan owned and operated Kauth Construction Company. Dan had many friends with whom he was generous with both his time and resources. Dan was a Shriner and active in community activities. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors: Surviving Dan are Jeffery, Pam and Clayton. Additional survivors are two sisters, Kay Smithers and Judy Morrison; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Linda Kauth.
