More detail on this person: Gary Lee Keefer, 79, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Leechburg, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Logan Place, Lower Burrell. He was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late LaVerne R. and Margaret (Barr) Keefer. Gary was a retired Army lieutenant colonel, having served 28 years before retiring in 1986. He was a Vietnam veteran. Gary was a member of Leechburg Elks and Leechburg Historical Society. He also was a member of St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church, Aspinwall, where he was a Eucharistic minister. He also volunteered at UPMC St. Margaret, Aspinwall. Gary was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed genealogy. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruth (Blue) Keefer, of Pittsburgh; a son, Mark B. Keefer (JoLee M.), of Corpus Christi, Texas; a daughter, Martha K. Dranzik (Kenneth R.), of Somerset; two grandchildren, Chelsea B. Keefer and Benjamin R. Dranzik; and a sister, Lynn (Keefer) Grove (Frederick), of Oakmont. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marnie L. Keefer, on Nov. 17, 2001.

Friends will be welcomed by his family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at CLAWSON FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg (724-842-1051), during which time Leechburg Elks Lodge 377 will hold a service at 7 p.m. A Christian funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church, 309 Brilliant Ave., Aspinwall, PA 15215. An interment will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Township, PA 15656, with military honors by Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
