More detail on this person: Major George Joseph Kerrigan, retired, 73, of Stratham, N.H., passed peacefully after battling dementia on Saturday, August 19, 2017 with his wife Alice by his side. He was born, May 28, 1944 in Quincy Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" Kerrigan and Mary Shanahan Kerrigan, and his brother John Kerrigan. He is survived by his wife Alice Coburn Kerrigan, brother James Kerrigan, of Cape Cod, daughter Betty Mattice, of New York and son Ken Kerrigan, of Alabama, grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family, especially his beloved dog Bailey. While serving in the army for 20 years as a helicopter and fixed wing pilot, he did two tours in Vietnam, received Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, 25 Air Medals with one air Medal with/V device, Senior Army Aviator Badge, Army Commendation Medal with one oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Forces Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal. After retiring from the Army he worked as a Standardization Instructor Pilot, at Fort Rucker, Alabama for 15 years. In which he earned the Master Aviator wings. He was the proud owner of Gate Side Court Mobile Home Rentals at the main entrance to Fort Rucker, known for its stunning mural depicting George's time in Vietnam. Special thanks to Dr. Mendoza, Sue Deming and all the nurses on 3-East at Frisbee Memorial Hospital for your care and kindness. SERVICES: A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Saint Theresa's Church, 815 Central Rd., Rye, NH, 03871. Refreshments will be served in the Church Hall after Mass. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity.
