George entered the Army in 1948 and served in
Central and South America, Korea, USA, Japan and
Vietnam. He completed primary flight training
under Hawthorn School of Aeronautics, Spence Air
Base February 1956. Helicopter Flight School at
Camp Wolters, Texas in 1958 and Vietnam
1966-67.
He was awarded The Distinguished Service
Cross-Nicaragua for flood relief effort 1960.
Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for 21
November 1966 aerial flight in support of an
ambushed 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment supply
convoy. Also awarded The Bronze Star Medal 11
June 1967 for Vietnam Service January 1967 to
June 1967.
The First Production Model of the TH-13T (Tail No.
64-17845) was released at Bell Helicopter, Fort
Worth, Texas to Captain Kinback for flight to Ft.
Rucker, Alabama, January 7, 1965.
He was preceded in death by wife Sue Kinback in
2001. He is survived by wife, Doris Wright
Kinback, (ex-wife of CW3 Gilbert W. Wright also
helicopter pilot in Vietnam) Weatherford Texas,
sons Alan Kinback, Eric Kinback, Florida daughters
Kathie Ghormley, Virginia & Kerri Lewis, Texas.
stepson Robert Wright, Texas, stepdaughters
Donna Hilton and Teressa Gonzales, New Mexico.
13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
George was writing a book but entered the hospital
and passed away before we could have it published.
I (Doris) promised him I would publish the book
for him. I started editing and compiling in April
2006 and on August 20, 2006 uploaded the
manuscript and photos to BookSurge my self
publisher. The book was print ready October 16,
2006. The title is, TELL ME A WAR STORY
available at Amazon.com. The book is a
compilation of individual stories from his
experiences as an Army Aviator and instructor
pilot during the period from 1956 to 1973.
