More detail on this person: Knerr, James K. Sept. 15, 2010 James K. Knerr, 81, of Tallahassee, died Sept. 15, 2010. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Culley's MeadowWood, Riggins Road Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Culley's MeadowWood, Riggins Road Chapel, with interment to follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Dolores, and a son, Richard, both of Tallahassee; a sister, Darla Kizer of Sarasota; brothers Harold of Palmetto and Donald of Ocala; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is predeceased by his mother, Ladine Knerr; his father, John Knerr; and his stepfather, Mitch Bellune. He was born in Maumee, Ohio, and moved to Florida when he was two years old. The family resided in Sarasota. He retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel, after more than 20 years. He served in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars. Following his military retirement, he worked for the State of Florida at the Department of Education, Criminal Law Enforcement and General Services, totaling over 18 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the Bay Haven Baptist Church of Sarasota.
