"Bill" Koehler, 72, of Jacksonville will be 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with Revs. James Robertson and Melisa Saccucci officiating and K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Col. Koehler died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie M. Koehler of Jacksonville; a son and his wife, Bill and Tammy Koehler of Phenix City; a daughter and her husband, Cathy and David Mashburn of McClellan; a brother and his wife, Rawden and Hilda Mansell; two sisters, Billie Mansell and Helen Gober and her husband, Charles; and five grandchildren, Crystal Mashburn, Brad Koehler, Corey Cooper, Brittany Sanders and Bo Sanders. Pallbearers will be military. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Group at First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Col. Koehler was a professor of business management at JSU and was a public relations officer for the Calhoun County Medical Society. He was past president of the Jacksonville Exchange Club and was active at First United Methodist Church. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award in 1994 at JSU. He was a member of Hiram Lodge #42 F&AM. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired from the Army after 29 years of service. He received the Bronze Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Legion of Merit (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), the Master Army Aviator Badge, the General Staff ID Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1025, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
