More detail on this person: Lt. Col. George Charles Kuhl U.S. Army Retired Lt. Col. George Charles Kuhl, 85, entered into rest on Monday, July 6, 2009, at his residence. Graveside services and interment will be held, at 11:00 am tomorrow Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Westover Memorial Park. Full Military Honors will be rendered, by the U.S. Army Honors Team. Lt. Col. Kuhl was a native, of Atlantic City, NJ and had been a resident of Augusta since 1969. He was a graduate of Anacostia High School in 1942, attended George Washington University 1948-1950, a member of the Second Schweinfurt Memorial Association and a member of the National and State of Georgia, Military Officers Association of America and a member of the 305th Memorial Bomb Group Association. Lt. Col. Kuhl was a veteran of World War II, as an Army Air Force B-17 pilot, the Korean Conflict, as a Field Artillery Officer and the Viet Nam War, as a Helicopter pilot. He was the author, of a non-fiction 8th Air Force story, Wrong Place! Wrong Time!, published in 1993. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lu Foley Kuhl. Survivors include; three sons, Charles M. Kuhl and wife Patty, of Lexington, SC, Christopher Kuhl, of Atlanta, GA and Joseph W. Kuhl, of Athens, GA, one daughter, Kathy Kuhl Knupp and husband John, of Ball Ground, GA and five grandchildren, Leslie Kuhl, Charles M. Kuhl II, Colleen Knupp, Cutler Knupp and Dylan Dee Patton-Kuhl. The family will receive friends, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, today Friday, July 10, 2009, at Platt's Crawford Avenue. Pallbearers will be members of the U. S. Army Honors Team. Lt. Col. Kuhl's family request, that memorials be made to the Augusta State University Foundation, "Mary Lu Kuhl Scholarship Fund", 2500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904.
