He also was a chief warrant officer in the National Guard as well as a helicopter pilot. He served more than 24 years in the National Guard and participated in sporting events sponsored by his unit. Son of William R. Kahl Jr. & Mildred Mowry Kahl and husband of L. Sherrill Eckman Kahl.
